Helen Hughes wins KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Dorset Showground

Sunday saw forty-one competitors take on the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Dorset Showground in Gillingham and it was Helen Hughes who gave the winning performance.

Each competitor was looking to book a qualification place for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final which is to be held at the British Showjumping National Championships in August and this led to a competitive class. With the aim of securing a sought after treble clear over the challenging course, each competitor went head to head with the clock.

Helen made the journey from Berkeley, Gloucestershire worthwhile as she jumped in to first place with her 14 year-old bay mare, Ruxton Contessa. In the eight horse jump off, this combination had speed on their side as they left all the fences standing to deliver a treble clear in 40.18 seconds.

Second place went to Vanessa Jobson-Scott from Bidford, North Devon riding Muna Van Den Bisschop, a 5 year-old dark bay mare owned by Sally Jobson-Scott. This pair produced a consistent treble clear in 43.41 seconds.

Clare Wilson from Tiverton, Devon took home third place with Allison Way’s 7 year-old bay mare Lordships Regentanz. This partnership stopped the clock on a treble clear in 44.66 seconds.

With one further rider also achieving a treble clear, four combinations will now go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
