Harriette Rushton wins Horseware Bronze League Qualifier at Houghton Hall Equestrian Centre
Wednesday 03 May 2017
Harriette Rushton from Gainsborough, Lincolnshire took the Horseware Bronze League Qualifier by storm on Sunday and landed the top spot at Houghton Hall Equestrian Centre in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
The starting line-up of forty-nine competitors were all focused on securing one of the three sought after qualification spots available for the Horseware Bronze League Semi Finals, which will run in August, and this ensured that a competitive class unfolded. After the first two rounds over Lisa Kelly’s course, just fifteen combinations remained in contention for qualification and this left all eyes on the clock as the jump off began.
Harriette produced two solid clear rounds on board her 5 year-old chestnut mare, Zilandos Midnight Music for a place in the final jump-off. This pair stepped up to the challenge and flew round the shortened course to a treble clear in an unbeatable time of 43.67 seconds.
Second place went to Alice Ellison who made the short journey from Cambridge with Sacha Ellison’s 7 year-old chestnut mare, Faith M worthwhile. This pair’s approach paid off as they produced the only other treble clear of the class, crossing the finish line in 49.22 seconds.
Alice rounded off her campaign by also taking third place on her second ride Britney IV, an 11 year-old bay mare owned by Sacha Ellison. This partnership put in a speedy round finishing in 37.69 seconds but a pole down at the second fence pushed them down into third place.
