Step up to Gold Rider, Kay Eastwood achieves win at 1m40!

Congratulations to Step up to Gold rider, Kay Eastwood on her first win at 1m40!

Kay said: 'We are half way through the Step Up to Gold programme and the improvement in my riding is very evident and giving results, all in good preparation for Bonheiden next month!  Stacey Cook and I are working weekly with our regional coach Edward Brook and his help and advice has been invaluable.  Firstly we focused on our flat work, especially the pace and rhythm needed during the 1.40m courses we have been aiming for.  Once this new canter pace became 'normal' to us we began to use this within our jumping.  Our training sessions have enabled us to prepare ourselves not only for the bigger tracks we will be jumping but also to become competitive at that level.

Personally, I needed the regular support from a great coach like Edward to enable me to believe in myself as a competitive rider.  This has shown with our first 1.40m win at the Jays recently.  My horse jumped an incredible double clear and has really stepped up to the mark, he is an amazing horse to still keep learning and improving with me at 16 years old!

Our next main focus is Bonheiden CSI 2*  in May where Typhoon will be aimed at the 1.40-1.45m classes, both Edward Brook and Matt Lanni, National Coach, will be supporting the entire Step Up to Gold team there, it's a great opportunity as part of the programme.  We have an exciting season planned and appreciation goes to British Showjumping for providing this support'.
