The Johnny Hughes Charity Show 14th August 2011 - Report

The Johnny Hughes Charity Show at their family home at Edlington Wood on the 14th August proved to be a huge success and attracted over 200 competitiors. The ground conditions were excellent thanks to the hard work put in by the family and the course plans of Tracey Barraclough were of a very high standard. The 1.45m Classic lived up to its name and the starting line up included Simon Buckley, Geoff Billington, Steven Whitaker, Steven Smith, Robert Whitaker, Michael Whitaker, Joe Whitaker as well as the promising youngsters Sally Hopkinson, Emma Stoker, James Hughes, Joe Clayton and William Whitaker. Joe Clayton and Mr. Darcy was the winner of the class after a very exciting jump-off which was acknowledged by all the spectators. Murray Mcleish – Woodstock V won the Newcomers class, James Hughes- Kings Temple the 1.10m Open, Mathew Boddy – Remi Corona the Horse and Hound Foxhunter, Richard Howley – Merlineke Z the 1.20m Open, William Whitaker – Wanted the 1.30m Open, Steve Crosby – Aramis Van Het Halbeck the B and C Handicap and the Accumulator Emma Stoker – Wilando B.
