Oliver Fletcher takes the National under 16 Champion title
Sunday 12 August 2018
Oliver Fletcher ensured that the family tradition of winning at the British Showjumping National Championships was upheld, as he came down towards the last fence and achieved the fastest time in the jump-off, aboard his father’s 10 year old chestnut mare, Dahar. It was a well-deserved win for the young rider as he beat five other combinations to take the 2018 National under 16 Champion title.
“We’ve had Dahar for two and a half years and she is a real winner; she nearly always wins every time she goes in the ring. In fact she has only had two poles down this entire season. We won the 1* at Chepstow and won the Children Grand Prix at Wierden last year,” explained Oliver.
Oliver also came third in the class with Little Business. Oliver explains: “We bred her [Little Business] and she took me to my first Children’s European when I was 12; we went double clear and got team silver. She is a very good and speedy little horse. Melanie Samuels has just brought her for her daughter and I’m sure she will be very happy with Little Business.”
