Remy Wilson Barnes takes the top spot in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Bishop Burton College
Monday 08 July 2019
Saturday saw Bishop Burton College in Beverley, East Yorkshire hold one of three Nupafeed Senior Discovery Second Rounds that were being held across the country over the weekend. Thirty-six combinations came forward to take on Course Designer Neil Foster’s twelve fence-track and compete to gain the all-important treble clear to gain a qualifying ticket to the Nupafeed Senior Discovery Championship Final which will be held at the British Showjumping National Championships at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire in August.
Half of the initial starters made it through to the second round with just two combinations faulting leaving sixteen in the final round, ten of which went on to produce a treble clear. With a small margin of 0.58 of a second separating the top three, it was Remy Wilson Barnes from Westwood in Nottinghamshire who posted the fastest round with her own Highlina II, a 7 year-old Dutch bred mare by Harley VDL. They crossed the line in 37.27 seconds.
Rachel Connor narrowly missed out on the win for the second time after settling for second last week with Juvenosa. This time she piloted Isabeau SSB, a 5 year-old Belgian bred mare into the runners up spot when posting a time of 37.59 seconds. Third place went to Daniella Johnston and Kinard Luxury Boy, a 7 year-old Irish bred gelding owned by Kate Johnston who also shares the ride with Daniella. They produced a time of 37.85 seconds.
Seven others went on to produce treble clears resulting in a total of ten combinations now going forward to the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Final.
