William Fletcher secures win in British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet Horse of the Year Show Grade C Qualifier at Royal Norfolk.

The Royal Norfolk Show hosted the latest British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet Horse of the Year Show Grade C Qualifier, where William Fletcher emerged victorious, securing two more qualifications for the final.

Fletcher, who has already qualified two horses for the Horse of the Year Show final, was the first to go in the jump-off with his homebred Secret Sunset. They set the standard, crossing the finish line in 43.05 seconds, which proved unbeatable. Reflecting on his win, Fletcher commented, “She jumped super. This was her first ever county show, although she has had a lot of practice on grass. She settled in really nicely and jumped superbly; took strides out and did the turns needed. She seemed really comfortable out there.

“We have four tickets for the Grade C Final now. We’ve got such a lovely group of young novice horses who are all stepping up in such a great way. So it’s really nice to see that being rewarded in the ring.”

Fletcher's second horse, Calixte Heartbreaker, also made it through to the jump-off. As the last to go, Fletcher knew what was needed to secure the qualification. “As I was last to go, we went a little slower to try and make sure she got the qualification. I’ve been riding her since December; she’s been excellent all year and has a really bright future ahead of her.”

Helen Tredwell deprived Fletcher of a one-two finish by delivering a speedy double clear in 44.54 seconds with Market M’Dam, owned by Derek Ricketts. The pair also earned their ticket to the British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Final in October.

Four opportunities remain for British Showjumping members to compete for their chance to qualify for the British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Final, view more at https://www.britishshowjumping.co.uk/shows_summer_venues.cfm
