Just for Schools Summer Championship Final

In the Just for Schools Individual 60cm Final, Molly Brymer headed up a 21 strong jump-off, taking the win with Binghamstown Lord Lucan.  Abergavenny-based Molly, who attends King Henry VIII school, flew into top spot by 0.29 seconds.

“It was great, I had to do a quick jump off, going from six to seven that was quite a gallop. He did very well - I really wanted the rug,” exclaimed Molly.  “The jump-off didn’t really suit us as we prefer the twists and turns so it felt like I was going flat out.”

Katie Burns steered Golden Socks into second and Isla Crowther-Birch took third with Bearwood Barnet.

In the Individual 70cm Final, Charlotte Noys secured the win with Amners Hot Springs. Another strong jump-off saw 24 riders return, where Oxfordshire-based Charlotte, who rides for St Michael’s School, sped to victory by 1.47 seconds.

“Smudge just knew what his job was, and he took me round the course and went as quick as he could. I’m really happy, he is such a speed demon, and he loves what he does,” commented a delighted Charlotte.

Harriet Bennet rode Popies Pop Star into second and Maya Patterson claimed third with Sixpence Posh Tottie.

The individual 80cm Final went the way of Holly Milne and Buzz Lightyear. Holly, who hails from Banff, Aberdeenshire and represents Banff Academy, outpaced her 15 rivals in the jump-off to take the win by the tiniest of margins, just 0.01 seconds separating her from second place.

This show was one last hurrah for Molly and her much loved pony: “This is my last show on Buzz, the next person to have him is lucky, he’s a good pony to have,” she said. “It was a fast jump-off, he did it all so well. At home he likes to be in the field and go for a gallop and he really enjoys jumping and at shows he’s just the same, even better.”

Eve Giannotta, who won the 70cm title last year picked up second with Monaincha as Lara Davenport filled third place with Newoak Truffle.

Lara Davenport went two better in the Individual 90cm Final, taking the win with her other ride Aphrodities Echo. Lara, who is from Nuneaton and a student at Twycross School, expertly steered the 14-year-old mare around the course in a time of 26.57 seconds, 0.06 seconds ahead of second place.

“I was really scared she was going to have a pole, but she was so awesome and wasn’t going to touch anything. When I crossed the finish line and saw my time, I was so excited” said Lara.

When talking about how she got her win, Lara added: “The jump off was really cool and when the last person went, I thought they were going to beat me, but Fizz was just amazing, she jumped everything exactly how I wanted her to. This I my first proper win as I’ve only had her since October last year, so we are still getting to know each other but I’m really happy with her.”

Jamie LimGoulder steered Langtoftegaard into second with Ellie Seddon in third aboard Northcountry Lady Tabitha.

Camilla Lim-Goulder did the double and secured both the 1m and 1.10m title with Rockmount Casper. Camilla, who is from Oxford and attends Wellington College, expertly guided her pony, who is aptly known as Rockstar at home, to victory by over 1 second in both classes.

“It was quite hot, so I was not expecting the win, but I just turned and moved across the ground, and he was really good,” said Camilla. “In the jump-off, I turned tight and hoped for the best.”

After her second victory of the day, Camilla added: “I am so excited, I wasn’t expecting the second win, but he was so good.”

In the 1m Final, Taya Murphy slotted into second with Kadar AH and Kate Barrett took third with Marley’s Clover.

In the 1.10m Final, Lily Hine picked up second with Dakota Blue and Elliana Prentice slotted into third with Chacha Real Smooth.

In the Schools Team 60cm Final, Twycross Yellow team came out on top with Dixie Grammar securing second place with Queen Elizabeth School picking up third.

The Schools Team 70cm Final went the way of Clifton College, whilst Twycross Light Blue picked up another placing in second and Dixie Grammer Gold team taking third.

Twycross School dominated once again in the Schools Team 80cm final, picking up first and second with their teams, Twycross White and Twycross Pink. Dixie Grammar school secured third.

Guildford High School took first place in the Schools Team 90cm final, closely followed by Norwich High School in second and Kings of Wessex in third.

In the last team final of the day, Wycombe Abbey secured the Schools Team 1m Final. Dixie Grammar again picked up second place with Norwick taking third place.
