Step Up Your Coaching Programme

British Showjumping are delighted to launch a new coach development programme. This is aimed at coaches who are interested in broadening their coaching knowledge and expanding their skills. To participate in the programme, coaches must be interested in their personal development and supporting riders at all levels through their journey in equestrian sport. 

Aims 

To provide support to coaches beyond formal coaching qualifications 

To develop the skills and knowledge of coaches working within BEF Member Bodies  

To encourage coaches to reflect on their practice and create personal development plans 

Who should apply? 

• Any coach who has achieved the Level 2 Coaching certificate, BHS Stage 3 Coach or equivalent qualifications issued by an Equestrian Member Body, prior to August 2023.  

• Coaches who are actively coaching within a BEF Member Body (E.g. British Showjumping Academies, Pony Club, BHS Approved Riding Centre etc).  

• Coaches who want to improve their knowledge and develop their skills.  

What will the program involve? 

• An eight month programme with eight workshop and additional supported activity 

• A mix of practical workshops and seminars 

• A group of 20 coaches from across a range of disciplines 

• Starting October 2024 

• The cost for the programme is £600. This can be paid in 2 instalments over the duration of the programme. 

• Places will be allocated following an interview process. 

How to Apply 

Application deadline – 5pm on Friday, 23rd August.  

Interviews will take place online the week beginning 16th September.  

Coaches accepted onto the programme will be expected to attend all workshop days in person. These will take place at The National Training Centre, Hothorpe, Leicestershire, LE17 6QX 

Workshop days: 

• 15th & 16th October 2024
• 10th & 11th December 2024
• 25th & 26th March 2025
• 3rd & 4th June 2025
