Rachel Proudley wins the NAF Five Star Silver League Championship at HOYS
Wednesday 06 October 2021
It was 16 year-old Rachel Proudley from North Yorkshire that took the NAF Five Star Silver League Championship at HOYS early this morning.
Riding Cartino III, owned by Susan Lincoln, the 14 year-old grey Belgian Warmblood put in an incredibly fast time to post a jump-off clear in 30.16 seconds to take the win. This saw Gemma Hallett and Billy Jive relegated to 2nd place having crossed the line clear just a fraction slower in 30.49 seconds.
Talking about her performance today and coming back to competing having had time off during the pandemic Rachel said “It’s brilliant to be back at HOYS, it’s just great. I wasn’t nervous, I had a plan in my head that I had to do and thankfully it worked out! The horses have had a rest during the pandemic and they’ve come back even better and it’s just great to be back competing again and to be here. He [Cartino III] is 14 now, he’s very careful and brave, he’s just great.”
