Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Hartpury College

Congratulations to Megan Drower & Utah’s Glow who were triple clear & 6th in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Hartpury College, qualifying them for the Final at The British Showjumping National Championships 2015 which will take place during the 11th – 16th August.

Emily Portas and Elassisi beat fifty-one other combinations to take the top spot in Sunday’s Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire. 

Each and every starter was aiming to produce a treble clear in Sunday’s class as they knew that this would see them take a place in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Final, which will be held at the British Showjumping National Championships later on this summer. 

Following two rounds of competition, twenty-two combinations were still in with a shot of producing a treble clear and eleven went on to do so. The final jump off was very closely fought with the top three finding themselves finishing within a second of each other. 

Emily Portas, aged 29, delivered the fastest treble clear of the class on board her own 6 year-old bay mare Elassisi. Emily explains her strategy for the class “I was drawn fairly late to go in the jump off (seventeenth) and having seen eight combinations produce a treble clear before me, I knew that I would have to go for it and  push ‘Ella’ against the clock to be in with the chance of taking the win. I was pleased with Ella as this was the first time that I have really pushed her against the clock and she responded brilliantly, The jump off course suited her as there were a number of tight turns, which she copes with well.” 

Emily and Elassisi eventually clocked up their treble clear in 46.12 seconds and this was to prove unbeatable. 

Second place was taken by 15 year-old Megan Betteridge from Gloucestershire with her father Philip’s 9 year-old bay gelding Bengel. This combination produced their treble clear in 46.43 seconds to finish just 0.31 seconds behind the leaders. 

Donald Ellery, aged 49, from St. Columb, Cornwall finished in third place after producing his treble clear in 46.56 seconds on board Edanita, a 6 year-old bay mare owned by Sarah Williamson.

A total of eleven combinations from this second round now go forward to the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Final.

The British Showjumping National Championships 2015 will take place during the 11th – 16th August at the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre (NAEC), Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.
