British Showjumping Disciplinary Panel decision

At a recent Disciplinary hearing the panel found James Smith to be in breach of Rules 82.1 and 82.11 and James also admitted his breach of rule 82.13

The Panel has therefore imposed the following penalties upon him, namely that:

(A)    he be reprimanded and warned as to his future conduct;

(B)    his membership be suspended for three months (to include the period already served whilst subject to an immediate suspension from 16 March 2024), which will run until 11.59 on 15 June 2024;

(C)   his membership will be subject to a further suspension for 12 months, the effect of which will be suspended for 12 months until 15 June 2025 provided he does not have a disciplinary matter proved against him by either British Showjumping or the FEI during that 12 month period; and

(D)   he be fined £1,000.

In addition, the Panel has awarded British Showjumping’s costs of £17.500, to be paid in full.
