Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Round at Rowallan Activity Centre

Rowallan Activity Centre in Fenwick, Ayrshire hosted a well fought Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round on Saturday 06th October 2012. In the months leading up to this second round, riders competed in first round competitions in order to qualify for these classes.

All of the combinations starting in the Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012.

This Second Round proved popular and saw 19 combinations start. From these starters, eight combinations made it through into the jump off. In the jump off, four combinations went on to achieve a crucial double clear and the times decided the places.

Taking the top spot in this second round was 15-year-old William Walker from Cumbria. William rode Alexia II, a seven-year-old bay mare, owned by Claire Walker. The combination cleared all seven fences in the jump off in a time of 30.88 seconds to secure the win and a Championship Final place.

In second place was 18-year-old Leanne Moir from West Lothian and Leanne secured her Championship Final place on board Ruby Shy, a nine-year-old bay mare owned by Alan Girdwood. The combination posted their double clear in a time of 31.20 seconds to secure their place.

Third place was filled by 14-year-old Rachael Clark from Ayrshire and she came third on board The Best of Times, a 12-year-old black mare owned by Fiona Clark. A jump off clear in a time of 32.88 seconds ensured that this combination finished in the top three.

A further five riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Championship Final and the full results can be seen below.
