Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at Keysoe Equestrian Centre

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds continued at Keysoe Equestrian Centre in Keysoe Bedfordshire on Sunday 7th October 2012. Keysoe Equestrian Centre played host to two of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds, those being a 1.00m National Amateur Second Round and a 1.15m National Amateur Second round.
 
Following a competitive season of first round competitions, competitors rode for the chance to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which takes place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012 and all of the starting combinations were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Championships. 
 
Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Second Round. 
The 1.00m National Amateur Second Round saw 27 starting combinations begin their qualifying campaign and from these combinations, 14 made it through to the jump off. With only 12 qualifying places up for grabs, all of the remaining combinations were hoping to achieve a double clear against the clock.
 
The overall winner was 54-year-old Dr. Joanna Roberts from Stamford, Lincolnshire and she rode a superb double clear to secure the win on board her own Mixed Blessing, a 13-year-old skewbald gelding. Joanna rode two accurate rounds to get her double clear and she achieved the second clear in a time of 29.08 seconds to seal the win.
 
In second place was 27-year-old Gavin Brown from Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire on board his own 11-year-old bay mare, Andiamo Picante. Gavin achieved his second clear in a time of 29.15 seconds to ensure that he finished in second place. 
 
Third place went to 24-year-old Luke Humphrey from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire and he rode his own nine-year-old black gelding, Back to Black II. This combination produced their second clear in a time of 30.33 seconds. 
 
A further nine riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Championship Final.

11th Charlotte Garnham riding The Magic Man – 0/4 – 33.03 seconds
12th Claire Stephens riding Parudo – 0/4 – 36.98 seconds
 
Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Second Round. 
The 1.15m National Amateur Second Round saw seven combinations start and after the first round of showjumping, there were two eligible combinations still in contention.
 
The win was taken by 23-year-old Melissa Eagles from Clacton-On-Sea, Essex and she rode her own 10-year-old bay gelding, Locomotion II, to victory. The combination only lowered one pole and they posted a time of 38.46 seconds to ensure that they won the class.
 
Second place was secured by 32-year-old Emma Wilson from Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. Emma rode Winsten V, a nine-year-old bay stallion owned by Mandy Hall. The combination finished on a score of eight faults in 49.06 seconds.

1st Melissa Eagles riding Locomotion II – 0/4 – 38.46 seconds 
2nd Emma Wilson riding Winsten V– 0/8 – 49.06 seconds
 
The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur & Veteran Championships 2012 take place from the 15th November – 18th November 2012 at Aintree International Equestrian Centre.
