Rosie Smith is riding high and, just two days after being a vital member of the third-placed British Nations Cup team, she claimed victory in the Children-on-Horses Grand Prix with TJ Hall’s Fruselli at Zduchovice’s Youth Event in the Czech Republic.
Fifty-two riders came forward over a 1.30m course with technical questions reducing the number to ten for the jump-off, Britain in with two chances.
Rosie is fast gaining experience under her mother Holly’s expert eye with confidence and progression showing in each round. Here was no exception as she scythed the corners on tight lines at a good pace on the Zambesi TN x Karandasj 14-year-old stallion to win by 2.46 seconds.
Ted Bastian-Mason also returned a double clear to take a podium place in third on the 10-year-old Forest Ranger OL (Clarimo x Cormint).
“I’ve enjoyed a great couple of weeks away with Team Great Britain and I’m incredibly grateful to my owners for giving me the chance to gain this experience,” said Rosie.
Mum Holly added: “Although Rosie is short on mileage at this level of competition, she rode to orders beautifully to get the win, helped by the most wonderful stallion!”
