Bedfordshire’s Wish Dior Cuddy-Thomas Wins the June NAF Shining Star Award

The NAF Shining Star Award for June 2013 has been given to 12 year-old Wish Dior Cuddy-Thomas from Bedfordshire, a determined and talented member of the British Showjumping Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire Junior Academy. Wish Dior has been awarded the NAF Shining Star because of the enthusiasm and improvement that she has shown during her time as a member of her local Junior Academy.

Mia Korenika, Lead Coach for the British Showjumping Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire Junior Academy, nominated Wish Dior for the NAF Shining Star Award. Mia has known Wish Dior for some time and enjoys working with her “Wish Dior is an active and hardworking member of the British Showjumping Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire Junior Academy. Wish Dior is always smiling, polite and is one of the toughest and most determined competitors that I know. In the short time that Wish Dior has been a member with the Junior Academy, she has qualified for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival and she was also successful at the Pony of the Year Show where she was placed 1st in the Under 11’s class. Wish Dior has also been selected as part of the academy team that will compete at the Inter-academy event to be held at Weston Lawns in August.”

Wish Dior joined British Showjumping back in 2010 and since becoming a member; she has taken the ride on several ponies and is currently competing up to 1.10m. Wish Dior was delighted to learn that she had been awarded the NAF Shining Star Award “I am so happy to have won. I joined the British Showjumping Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire Junior Academy as it provides me with great opportunities to meet other people and it gives me the opportunity to attend great training sessions. I would like to thank everyone who has been helping and supporting me, including Mia Korenika, my personal coach Charmaine Hanson and especially my Mum and Nan for all their support. I’m so pleased to have won the NAF Shining Star Award.”

“My plans for the rest of 2013 include trying to qualify for the appropriate second round competitions and I also want to continue with progressing to gain my NAF Pony Five Star Performance Awards Programme 2* Award.”

Tracey Lloyd, Marketing Manager for NAF commented “Well done Wish Dior, your optimism and enthusiastic approach to your sport means you are a well deserving Shining Star Winner. Congratulations.”

The NAF Shining Star Award was introduced when NAF became a British Showjumping Business Partner. The award is for members of a Junior Academy who have shown a great deal of commitment, progression and outstanding behaviour along with their riding ability and much more. Riders are nominated by their lead coach, and then judged and awarded by NAF to one person each month.
