British Showjumping Disciplinary Panel decision

At a recent hearing the Panel decided that, on the balance of probabilities, Reece Oliver did assault Mr Jones on the 15th of June 2023, at the Bolesworth International Horse Show, so was found guilty of a breach of Rules 82.1 & 82.11

Pursuant to its powers under BS Rule 87, the Panel has determined that because the Respondent was guilty of the breaches of Rules the Respondent should:
(a) be reprimanded and warned as to his future conduct.
(b) have his membership suspended for six months.
c) fined £2,500.

(i) The panel decided since the Respondent had already served very nearly a 9-month suspension, the additional 3 months will mean the fine does not have to be paid as it is deemed as time served.

The panel awards BS costs of £4,372 which covers the costs of the day hearing less BS Council’s fee. A 12-month payment schedule was agreed between BS and the Respondent.
The additional BS costs asked for, (£28,211.50), will be suspended, providing the
Respondent is of good behaviour for the next 24 months, from the date of this hearing
(ending 15th April 2026), and does not have a disciplinary matter proved against him
from that 24 month period.
