Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm, 1.00m, 1.10m and 1.15m National Amateur Second Rounds at Arena UK

Over two hundred starters enjoyed a busy weekend of Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Round classes at Arena UK during the course of last weekend, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September 2013. The venue played host to a 0.90cm second round, a 1.00m second round, a 1.10m second round and a 1.15m second round.
All competitors were aiming to collect one of the direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013.
Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round.
This second round attracted sixty-six starters and the jump off was well contested after thirty-four produced a first round clear. Twenty-three combinations then went on to secure a double clear, which meant that the clock was critical in deciding who qualified for the Championship Final.
A fast double clear was needed to win this second round and this was duly achieved by 32 year-old Gemma Dickens from Loughborough, Leicestershire on Oakleys Ace, a 22 year-old bay gelding owned by Lesley Dickens. The combination clocked the only sub 30.00 seconds double clear of the class, finishing on a time of 30.66 seconds.
Second went to 17 year-old Sophie Corney from South Humberside on her own 17 year-old bay mare, Ocean Breeze II. Sophie produced an immaculate jump off round and stopped the clock on 31.05 seconds.
Gemma Dickens enjoyed a successful second round as she also took third, this time on Larius, a 20 year-old bay gelding again owned by Lesley Dickens. Gemma delivered yet another double clear, this time in 31.19 seconds.
Nine more riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Second Round.
Sixty-seven competitors came forward for this Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Second Round. Eight combinations achieved a double clear from the twenty-four strong jump off.
A narrow victory was snatched by 20 year-old Hollie-Mae Hobbs from Milton Keynes on board her own 11 year-old bay gelding, Charlie Brown VIII. The combination stopped the clock with 0.10 seconds in hand over the second placed combination. The clock was stopped on 35.83 seconds.
Elizabeth Bushe (22) from Ely, Cambridgeshire took second place on Heebie Jeebie, an 18 year-old bay mare owned by Alison Bushe. This combination was narrowly beaten into second after finishing in a time of 35.93 seconds.
Third place went to 13 year-old Phoebe Forster from Cambridgeshire. Phoebe rode Milenio II, a 13 year-old bay gelding owned by Tonia Forster. An quick and accurate double clear from this combination ensured a top three finish in 36.86 seconds.
Another nine riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round.
This Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round was contested by fifty-six combinations, twenty-seven of whom got through to the jump off. Ten double clears were then eventually produced.
Amanda Wardle (28) from Codnor, Derbyshire secured the win in this second round on her own 8 year-old chestnut gelding, Argento III. An immaculate double clear produced in 44.71 seconds ensured the top spot for this combination.
Second place was taken by 14 year-old Charlotte Fretwell from Derbyshire on Party Socks, a 12 year-old bay mare owned by Joanne Smyth. They delivered their double clear in a time of 44.98 seconds.
Third place went to 25 year-old Luke Humphrey from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Luke was on board his own 14 year-old dark bay mare, Soraja and they achieved a double clear in 46.31 seconds.
Nine additional riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final.

This second round was contested by thirty-four combinations and twenty of these made it through into the jump off. Twelve double clears were then subsequently produced and the qualification places were allocated accordingly.
Amanda Wardle added to her win in the 1.10m second by taking the top spot in this 1.15m second round, again on Argento III. Amanda collected another fast double clear, this time in 30.78 seconds.
Hollie-Mae Hobbs secured yet another spot for the Championship, this time on Barbies Benz, her own 7 year-old bay gelding. They went on to achieve a double clear in 31.97 seconds.
Emma Smith (39) from Dunmow, Essex took third place on her own 10 year-old chestnut gelding, Parc and Ride. Emma produced a double clear on her ride in 32.07 seconds.
Nine more riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Championship Final.
