Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round at Norfolk Showjumping Club

The Norfolk Showjumping Club in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk hosted a Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round on Saturday 5th October 2013. All competitors that came forward to compete in this second round were hoping to collect one of the direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013.
This 0.90cm second round attracted fifteen starting combinations and twelve of these combinations made it through into the jump off, subsequently taking the direct qualifying places. From the twelve combinations, six achieved a double clear.
Luke Humphrey (25) from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire took the top spot on his own 14 year-old dark bay mare, Soraja. Drawn third to go in the jump off, Luke delivered an impressive double clear in a very quick time of 31.72 seconds to top the leaderboard.
Luke also took second place in this second round, again on one of his own rides. This time, he rode Prins II, an 11 year-old chestnut gelding. Luke clocked up another double clear, taking second place in 33.13 seconds.
Third place went to 20 year-old Kim Pearson from Norwich, Norfolk on her own 8 year-old bay mare, Opal III. Kim and Opal III also produced a double clear and they crossed the finish line in 36.31 seconds.
Nine more riders went on to achieve their direct qualification place for the Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Championship Final.
