Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round at Northallerton Equestrian Centre

Northallerton Equestrian Centre in Northallerton, North Yorkshire held a Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round on Sunday 20th October 2013. Seventeen competitors came forward to contest this second round and all of the starters were hoping to collect one of the direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013.

Nine combinations made it through into the jump off and subsequently took a direct qualifying place each. From these nine combinations, four went on to achieve a double clear.

The top spot was taken by 16 year-old Alex Deighton from Tyne & Wear on Ochil Star, an 11 year-old bay mare owned by Jacqui Deighton. Alex produced a fantastic and fast double clear on Ochil Star to finish on a time of 30.78 seconds.

Sara Blakey (48) from Wingate, County Durham took second place on her own 17 year-old grey mare, Ferndale Summer Breeze. This combination also clocked up a double clear, delivering it in 31.84 seconds.

Third place was taken by 45 year-old Tracey Clarkson from Malton, North Yorkshire. Tracey was on board her own 12 year-old bay mare, Clover Wonderland and the pairing went to secure their double clear in a time of 32.19 seconds.

Six further riders went on to achieve their place in the Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Championship Final.

9th Sara Blakey & Ferndale Moscow Bay – 0/E
