Dodson & Horrell 1.00m, 1.10m and 1.15m National Amateur Second Rounds at Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex

Eligible competitors enjoyed a jam packed weekend of Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex in Rugby, Warwickshire on Saturday 12th October 2013. There were second rounds held at 1.00m, 1.10m and 1.15m, attracting over one hundred starters.
All of those competing were aiming to collect one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013.
Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Second Round.
This second round proved to be popular with fifty-four starters coming forward to contest the 1.00m class. The jump off was well attended by the thirty-seven combinations who produced the required first round clear. Twenty-one combinations went on to produce the desired double clear, which in turn meant that the qualification places were allocated according to the ever pivotal clock.
Taking the top spot was 27 year-old Monica Ballard from Sittingbourne, Kent on her own 15 year-old bay mare, My Amazing Grace. Monica produced an amazingly quick double clear on her mare to stop the clock on a time of 23.48 seconds, which proved to be unbeatable.
Amy Jimmison (17) from South Yorkshire took second place on Whidor, a 10 year-old bay gelding owned by Nadine Jimmison. Amy also produced a quick double clear, delivering it in 24.22 seconds.
Third was taken by 21 year-old Posy Rollit-Mason from Dunmow, Essex and she was on board Chantelle, an 18 year-old bay mare owned by Poppy Tubby. A double clear in 24.68 seconds ensured the combination a top three finish.
Nine further riders also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round.
This 1.10m second round was also popular with competitors, attracting forty-two starting combinations. An impressive total of thirty combinations made it through into the jump off and twelve combinations went to secure a double clear, therefore dictating the qualification places.
The win was secured by 57 year-old Pauline Bursby from Surbiton, Surrey, who was on board her own 15 year-old chestnut gelding, Cut the Corner. Pauline and Cut the Corner were drawn to go about halfway during the jump off and their fast double clear of 30.12 seconds that they could not be beaten.
Caroline Hatchman (26) from Chesterfield, Derbyshire with her own 17 year-old bay gelding, Midsummer Knight got close to the winners after she produced her double clear in 30.65 seconds.
Third place went to 49 year-old Ian Wynne from Llangollen, Clwyd. Ian was competing on Mirabella II, a 13 year-old chestnut mare owned by Barbara Else. Ian produced a double clear from his ride in 31.07 seconds to end up in the top three.
There were another nine riders who also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Second Round.
Twenty combinations came forward for this 1.15m second round and sixteen produced the first round clear needed for a place in the jump off. There were seven double clears produced in the jump off and the remaining qualification places were awarded to the fastest four fault combinations, meaning that the clock proved to be crucial once again.
Kelly Stovell (18) from the West Midlands took the win in this second round on Schumi, a 7 year-old chestnut gelding owned by Carole Stevens. This combination achieved the only sub 32.00 seconds double clear of the class, clocking a time of 31.31 seconds.
Annabelle Hutt (18) from Buckinghamshire claimed second place on Surprise V, a 7 year-old bay mare owned by Debra Hutt. Annabelle produced an early double clear in jump off, crossing the finish line in 32.63 seconds, a time that was beaten by just one combination.
Third place went to 21 year-old Amy Thomson from Cardiff, South Glamorgan on board her own 12 year-old dark brown gelding, Boheme. Their double clear was produced in 33.07 seconds.
Nine further riders also went to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Championship Final.
