Dodson & Horrell 1.00m and 1.15m National Amateur Second Rounds at Summerhouse Equestrian & Training Centre

It was a busy day for Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Round competitors at Summerhouse Equestrian & Training Centre in Hardwicke, Gloucestershire on Sunday 20th October 2013 as they were given the opportunity to compete in a 1.00m National Amateur Second Round and a 1.15m National Amateur Second Round.

All of those competing in these two second rounds were aiming to collect one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013.

This 1.00m second round proved to be popular with forty-two starting combinations coming forward to compete. Twenty-one competitors went on to contest the jump off and with ten combinations going on to achieve a double clear, the clock was left to decide the order of results.

Rebecca Symons (16) from Devon took victory in this second round on board Kilmaryl Magic, a 10 year-old bay gelding owned by Richard Symons. Rebecca produced two immaculate rounds from her ride to take the win with a double clear in 40.52 seconds.

Second place was taken by 21 year-old Lucy Hewlett from Wapley Hill, Bristol. Lucy took second on her own 11 year-old bay gelding, Wapleys Tiny Surprise after the combination clocked up a double clear in 41.05 seconds.

Bethan Allman (18) from South Glamorgan took third place on Cristo Calypso, a 7 year-old bay gelding owned by Shan Allman. A double clear produced in 42.49 seconds secured this combination a top three finish.

Nine more riders went to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Second Round.
Eleven starters came forward to contest this 1.15m second round and five went through into the jump off. All five of these combinations also achieved a double clear, leaving the clock to decide the winning order.

Charles Knapp (24) took the win in this 1.15m second round on his own 15 year-old grey mare, Schoodle Madoo, Charles produced the only double clear in under 34.00 seconds to take victory with a time of 33.58 seconds, nearly two seconds ahead of his closest rival.

Second went to 19 year-old Jasmine Punter from Chippenham, Wiltshire. Jasmine rode her own 11 year-old bay mare, Clio V and she delivered a double clear in 35.48 seconds, securing a top two finish in the meantime.

Third place was taken by 18 year-old Anthony Snitters from Bristol on his own 6 year-old dark bay gelding, Glenarchy. Their double clear, clocked up in a time of 35.77 seconds, ensured the combination of a place in the top three.

Two more riders also went to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Championship Final.
