Dodson & Horrell 1.10cm and 1.15m National Amateur Second Rounds at Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre

Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre in Fareham, Hampshire was the host venue for two of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds, namely a 1.10m second round and a 1.15m second round.
The 1.10m second round was held on Saturday 12th October 2013, whilst the 1.15m second round was held on Sunday 13th October 2013. All of the competitors starting out in these second rounds were hoping to collect one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013.

A total of ten combinations came forward to compete in this 1.10m second round and from these starters; seven produced a first round clear to make it into the jump off. Four combinations then produced a double clear.
Louise Stoner (26) from Haywards Heath, West Sussex took the win in this second round by well over four seconds. Louise was on board her own and Martin Stoner’s 9 year-old black mare, Zarita. Louise clocked her double clear in a time of 31.25 seconds to take the win by a good margin.
Second place was taken by 34 year-old Aurora Mouturat-Sorensen from Woking, Surrey on her own 9 year-old dark bay gelding, Son of India. Aurora produced an immaculate double clear from her ride, crossing the finish line in a time of 35.68 seconds.
Third went to 53 year-old Caroline Etherington from Liphook, Hampshire, who rode her own 14 year-old grey gelding, Rea Diamond. Caroline and Rea Diamond also achieved a double clear, clocking a time of 36.68 seconds.
Another four riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Second Round.
Nine combinations came forward to start out in this 1.15m second round, seven of whom made it through into the jump off. This second round also saw four double clears being produced.
The win in this second round was taken by 25 year-old Mackenzie Sanders from Swindon, Wiltshire, who was riding her own 11 year-old dark brown gelding, Vampire III. Mackenzie and Vampire III led this second round from the very beginning and their double clear in 35.21 seconds proved to be unbeatable.
Second place went to 21 year-old Charlotte Quinton from Bracknell, Berkshire on her own 11 year-old brown gelding, Calova. Charlotte and Calova were the penultimate combination drawn to go in the jump off and they managed to secure a double clear in 37.91 seconds to take a top two finish.
Mackenzie Sanders enjoyed a successful second round, also taking third place. She was again on one of her own horses, this time a 9 year-old bay gelding called Parkview Quintender. Mackenzie secured yet another double clear, this time in 42.30 seconds.
Four more riders also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Championship Final.
