Dodson & Horrell 1.10cm and 1.15m National Amateur Second Rounds at Forest Edge Equestrian Centre

Forest Edge Equestrian Centre in Swaffham, Norfolk hosted two of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at the following heights, 1.10m and 1.15m. The 1.10m second round was held on Friday 11th October 2013, whilst the 1.15m second round was held on Saturday 12th October 2013. 

All of the competitors starting out in these second rounds were hoping to collect one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013.

Eleven combinations came forward to compete in this 1.10m second round and from these starters; seven produced a first round clear to make it into the jump off. Six combinations then went on to produce a double clear, leaving the clock to become a crucial factor in deciding the places.

Luke Humphrey (25) from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire took a convincing win in this second round on board his own 10 year-old black gelding, Back to Black II. Luke produced a superb double clear on his gelding in a fast time of 32.73 seconds, winning the second round by well over three seconds. 

Finishing in second place was 23 year-old Alice Norman from Ely, Cambridgeshire on her own 15 year-old piebald gelding, Pied Piper. Alice rode two good rounds to finish on a double clear in 36.28 seconds. 

Third place was taken by 14 year-old Nissi Ladell from Norfolk, who rode Ayonie, an 8 year-old bay mare owned by Mr K Ladell. Nissi also clocked up a double clear, delivering it in 38.46 seconds.

Four additional riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Second Round.
This 1.15m second rounds was started by seven combinations, five of whom made it through into the jump off. This second round also saw four double clears being produced. 

Hannah Vincent (20) from Norwich, Norfolk topped the leaderboard on her own 9 year-old black gelding, Jabberwocky. Hannah and Jabberwocky produced a fast and clear round over the seven jump off fences to finish the second round on a double clear in 28.21 seconds. 

Luke Humphrey, who won the 1.10m second round, took second place in this 1.15m second round on Allegro, a 13 year-old brown gelding owned by Gavin Brodin. The combination was drawn last to go in the jump off and they managed to secure a double clear in 28.80 seconds. 

Finishing off the top three was 20 year-old Rosie Offord from Canvey Island, Essex on her own 13 year-old bay gelding, Little Rock II. This combination clocked up their double clear in a time of 30.27 seconds.

Four more riders also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Championship Final.
