Dodson & Horrell 1.10m and 1.15m National Amateur Second Rounds at Keysoe – The College Equestrian Centre

Two Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds were held at Keysoe – The College Equestrian Centre on Saturday 19th October 2013 at the following heights, 1.10m and 1.15m.
The second rounds were well contested and all of those competing were aiming to collect one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013.

Twenty-four starters came forward to contest this Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round. Eighteen combinations achieved the first round clear needed to make it into the jump off and twelve combinations went on to secure a double clear. These double clears meant that the clock was to be pivotal in deciding the placings.
The win in this second round was secured by 23 year-old Steffi Riley from Watford, Hertfordshire on her own 8 year-old bay gelding, Singh Singh. A fast double clear produced by this combination in 28.60 seconds secured the top spot by over a second.
Eleri Guy (17) from Buckinghamshire took second place on her own 9 year-old bay gelding, Zaracossa. Eleri and Zaracossa also secured a sub 30.00 seconds double clear, stopping the clock on 29.78 seconds.
Third place went to 31 year-old Vicky Thompson from Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire who was on Cymyran Lights, her own 18 year-old black gelding. Vicky produced a double clear from her mount in 30.14 seconds.
A further nine riders went to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Second Round.
This 1.15m second round attracted ten eligible starting combinations, eight of which made it through into the jump off. The top three places were then secured by the three combinations to produce a double clear.
Luke Humphrey (25) from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire took the top spot after producing a fast double clear on his own 10 year-old chestnut gelding, Prince D’Heauville. Luke and Prince D’Heauville crossed the finish in 32.87 seconds to secure the win and a place in the Championship Final.
Second place was taken by 25 year-old Becci Moult from Kirkby Mallory from Leicestershire and she rode Hands Off II, a 7 year-old bay mare owned by Kirk Godber. This combination produced their double clear in 33.73 seconds.
Third place went to 46 year-old Martin Fox from Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire, who was on board his own 8 year-old bay gelding, Dulf C. Martin and Dulf C emulated their double clear from the 1.10m second round, this time securing a top three finish with a time of 33.08 seconds.
Five additional riders also went to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Championship Final.
