Under a clear blue sky at the Wales & West Show in Chepstow, Monmouthshire, it was Elizabeth Mantel who delivered a winning performance in the Horseware Bronze League Qualifier after riding a fast treble clear.
Against seventy-one other talented combinations, the battle for one of the three coveted qualification spots available for the Horseware Bronze League Semi Finals, which will run in August, was fierce. With the want to qualify so high, the first two rounds saw a whopping thirty-two clears delivered and all of these combinations went forward to final jump off.
Making the journey from Reading in Berkshire, Elizabeth Mantel took first place on board her 13 year-old dark bay mare, Caoimhes Delight. This combination delivered two accurate rounds to take their place in the jump off where they went on to post another clear round in an unbeatable time of 35.26 seconds.
Lizzy Knight from Maidstone, Kent scooped second place with her 11 year-old bay gelding, Cult Flight. This partnership took on the newly shortened course to secure a stylish treble clear in 37.13 seconds
With a strong challenge, Georgia Sykes from Bristol, Avon claimed the final qualification place on offer riding Deborah Cox’s 11 year-old bay mare, Borienta. This pair stopped the clock on a treble clear in 38.00 seconds for third place.
