Hariette Rushton Rides to Victory in the Nupafeed Senior Discovery Second Round at Willow Banks Equestrian Centre

The fifth Nupafeed Senior Discovery Second Round competition, held at Willow Banks Equestrian Centre was this weekend.
A total of 36 horse and rider combinations embarked on course designer Piers Robert Warmoth’s 1.05m first round track, with 24 delivering a clear round to advance to the second. From there, six pairs soared through the course with clear rounds to make for an exciting jump-off.
Displaying a great turn of skill and speed over the shortened course, Harriette Rushton guided Harriot Bolland’s six-year-old gelding Soul-Man Z across the finish in a time of 40.11 seconds to take top spot. Sophie Marsh piloted her own Roger That into second place, 2.29 seconds off the winning pace whilst Kyle Hassell slotted into third place with his own and Kelly Hassell’s Ja Mora BDA.
Commenting on her victory, Harriette said: “He found it all quite easy. The plan was to go for the steady clear, but he jumped so well over the first fence I just went for it, and it paid off. He’s a lovely big horse, with plenty of drive and covers the ground well.
“I backed him as a four-year-old, then sold him to his current owners and took the ride back on him about 4 or 5 months ago now, so I know him quite well.
“He has recently stepped up to jump a couple of Foxhunter classes, but this is the first big thing he has qualified for. We’re looking forward to taking him to the final, I think he stands a good chance of doing quite well and has got plenty of jump in him for the future,” added Harriette.
In the Senior British Novice Second Round, Stephanie Gunn flew into top spot with her own Quarantino, 2.22 seconds ahead of second places Daisy Kiera, riding Lisa Hinton and Steve Christie’s Fusion Suileen Oision. Alicia Legg took home third place with her own Outbid, a further 2.06 seconds in arrears.
