Tuesday 23 February 2010

Wonderboy III’s victory in the Rolex Grand Prix in Zurich at the end of January has been voted ‘Performance of the Month’ for January.
The stunning eleven year-old grey gelding, jointly owned by his rider Ben Maher and the Quainton Stud, beat a world class starting field at CSI5*-W Zurich to take the victory and the 35,000 swiss francs winners purse.
The new Performance of the Month Award is an amalgamation of the former Showjumper and Owner of the Month Awards, and recognises the achievements of not just our riders, but our horses and owners too.
Chairman of Performance Development at British Showjumping, Clare Whitaker commented:
“We are delighted to announce the amalgamation of the Show Jumper and Owner of the Month Awards, into one monthly Award; ‘Performance of the Month’. The new award will not only recognise the fantastic achievements of our international riders, but also our international horses and their owners, without which none of it would be possible.
It gives me great pleasure to award the January Performance of the Month to Wonderboy III, the Quainton Stud and Ben Maher , for their fantastic Grand Prix win in Zurich. My congratulations go to them and their hard working Team”.
Patrick Riley of Zamar TTT, sponsors of the International Performance Award said:
“It is appropriate that the current UK number one Ben Maher is given the very first Performance Award by British Showjumping. Ben along with Emma and Mike Phillips, deserve this recognition for their joint determination, hard work and dedication to the sport of Showjumping.”
