KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Final at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre

The tenth KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Final held on Sunday 8th July 2012 at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre in Broxburn, West Lothian attracted entries from over 30 eligible horse and rider combinations, all hoping to claim their Championship Final qualification.

The class saw riders gather from all over the country with the aim of qualifying for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which will be held at the Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012).

From the total number of entries, 31 combinations started in the Regional Final and eight combinations managed to gain two clear rounds to make it through to the final jump off. In the final jump off, all the remaining combinations were hoping to produce the crucial treble clear required to qualify for the Championship Final.

From those who made it into the final jump off, only three combinations went on to produce the required treble clear, securing their Final place for August. The overall winner of the Regional Final was 18-year-old Jordan Thompson from Larbert, Stirlingshire. Jordan won the class on board Ronald Brady’s 13-year-old black gelding, Wish Buddy II. Jordan was the only rider who managed to clear the jump off course in 42.00 seconds and under, putting in a time of 42.00 seconds exactly to secure the win.

Second place went to 22-year-old Holly Haig from Kirkcaldy, Fife. Holly brought Nicholas Brown’s seven-year-old chestnut mare, Tomgar Desperado, home clear over the jump off course in a time of 44.96 seconds to clinch a qualifying spot for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.

The combination in third place was 47-year-old Iona Drummond from Clydebank, Dunbartonshire. Iona rode her own seven-year-old bay gelding, U2 DS clear over the eight fence jump off in a time of 52.02 seconds.
