British Novice Championship
Mark Thompson, based in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire triumphed at BSJA Scope Festival of Show Jumping in the KBIS British Equestrian British Novice Final.
Riding Christine Spanner’s five-year-old, chestnut gelding, Top Flight True Carlos completed three clear rounds, with an impressive fast time in the jump off.
Known as Boy Cot, Top Flight True Carlos qualified for the prestigious final, after winning the KBIS British Novice Regional Final at Market Bosworth in July.
Said Christine: “I was over the moon when I realised that Mark and Boy Cot had won, it was a dream come true. He is such an amazing horse, with fantastic scope and potential.
“I was unable to ride Boy Cot due to a bad back, so Mark very kindly stepped in to ride him.”
Said Mark: “Boy Cot didn’t put a foot wrong for the whole competition; we all really enjoyed the electric atmosphere at Scope.”
Guy Prest of KBIS British Equestrian Insurance said: “The British Novice Championships were very exciting and it was a great result for Mark who put in a very consistent effort.”
Thoroughbred x Dutch Warmblood, Boy Cot is having a fantastic season, qualifying for the Equissage Discovery in 2010.
