Megan Taylor Takes the Top Spot in the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Second Round at Bicton Arena
Thursday 09 June 2016
The Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Second Round at Bicton Arena in Budleigh Salterton, Devon took place on Sunday and it was Megan Taylor who took the top spot ahead of thirty-nine other competitors.
With three direct qualifying places on offer for this year’s Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show, each starter was hoping to grab one of these places for their very own. Following two competitive rounds of the class, five pairs achieved the two clears needed for a place in the jump off and the podium was filled by those able to go on and jump a third clear round.
Fifteen year-old Megan Taylor from Tamworth, Staffordshire enjoyed a successful weekend by adding a win in this class to her second place in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round from the previous day. Megan jumped yet another treble clear on Novella II, a 9 year-old bay mare owned by David Wingrove and she delivered this one in 33.42 seconds to finish nearly two seconds ahead of her closest rival.
Second place was taken by 15 year-old Nicole Kershaw from Manchester and she secured her treble clear on Michelle Kershaw’s 8 year-old grey gelding Miami Moonbeam. This combination’s immaculate treble clear was clocked up in 35.44 seconds.
Shaunie Greig, aged 13, from Camelon, Falkirk took third place with MJ, a 12 year-old grey gelding owned by Julie Greig. This partnership secured the only other treble clear of the class and they did so in 36.67 seconds.
With the three direct qualifying tickets for the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show having been allocated, the combinations in fourth and fifth took home the chance to compete in the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
