Nikole Ironside is unbeatable in Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round at Tillyoch Equestrian Centre

A clear winner emerged in Nikole Ironside on Sunday who made the journey from Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire to the Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round at Tillyoch Equestrian Centre.

With a strong field of determined competitors starting the class, hopes were high for those wishing to take home one of the qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which will be held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool between the 14th – 19th November. Only three combinations were able to pull off a clear in the first round, so with qualification assured it was left to the all-important jump off to decide the placings.

Riding her own 15 year-old grey gelding, Ciarans Boy, Nikole remained cool, calm and collected, enabling this partnership to deliver a blistering round to cross the finish line in 42.14 seconds with a double clear for first place.

Leaving all the fences standing for second place was Alison Clinton from Livingston, West Lothian riding her 7 year-old bright bay gelding, Don Coyote. This pair stopped the clock in 46.00 seconds.

Third place went to Louise Calder from Fife on board Mademoiselle Kroongraaf, a 7 year-old black mare owned by Jane Calder. This combination had a couple of poles down to finish in 45.49 seconds with 8 faults.
