SEIB Winter Novice Championship Qualifier at Arena UK

Arena UK in Grantham, Lincolnshire hosted a SEIB Winter Novice Championship Qualifier yesterday (Sunday 26th January 2014) and the class proved to be well contested.

With just two qualifying places available for the SEIB Winter Novice Championship, which will be held at the Longines Royal International Horse Show during 29th July – 3rd August 2014, competition for the desired double clear was fierce. A total of forty-four competitors came forward for the qualifier and four double clears were recorded. The top two places were eventually secured by the two combinations who produced their double clears in under 40.00 seconds.

Joss Williams (21) from Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire took victory in this qualifier after producing the fastest double clear of the class on 13 year-old chestnut gelding, Cheeky Business, owned by Thomas Reilly. The combination secured their double clear in a quick time of 34.58 seconds to take the win by over two seconds.

Second place went to 36 year-old Stephanie Scott from Eccleshall, Staffordshire on her own 6 year-old grey gelding, Opis Day. Stephanie and Opis Day collected their double clear in a good time of 36.73 seconds.
