The Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Qualifiers continued yesterday (Wednesday 26th June 2013) at the Royal Norfolk Show. The show held the fifth of these qualifiers and class was attended by 42 starters.
Up for grabs at this qualifier were three direct qualifying tickets for the Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) and all of the starting combinations were vying for one of these tickets. All of the combinations were hoping to produce a double clear to put them in contention for Championship Final qualification. A total of 15 combinations made it through into the jump off and 5 combinations went on to produce a double clear. This meant that the placings came down to the times.
The win was taken by 25 year-old Lance Whitehouse from Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire riding Alouette II, an 8 year-old bay mare owned Jaine Robertson. Lance and Alouette II produced their clear in the jump off in 40.46 seconds to beat the rest of the field.
Second place was taken by 47 year-old Robert Bevis from Wrexham, Clwyd and he was on board the 8 year-old grey mare, Pebbles IV, owned by Kate Mustill. The combination produced their double clear in a time of 40.52 seconds.
Third place went to 19 year-old Jessica Dimmock from Boughton, Northamptonshire riding her own 10 year-old bay gelding, Tinkas Tyson. This combination posted a double clear in 41.57 seconds to grab the third and final qualifying spot.
