Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Qualifiers Continue at Bramham International Horse Trials

The popular Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C qualifiers continued today (Saturday 8th June 2013) at Bramham International Horse Trials in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. The class saw nearly 90 eligible starting combinations come forward to compete.

All of the starters were competing for one of the three direct qualifying tickets that were up for grabs for the Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS). To be in with the best chance of securing one of these tickets; combinations needed to produce a double clear, which 8 combinations duly achieved. This meant that the places and Championship Final qualifications came down to the times.

Following a well contested jump off in which 25 combinations jumped, the winner’s spot was eventually shared after two combinations finished on exactly the same time. Olivia Dales, aged 18 from Brough, Hull and 21 year-old Richard Howley from Wetherby, West Yorkshire shared the top spot on their respective rides, Casparall and Benedictus.

Richard and Benedictus, a 7 year-old bay gelding owned by Ann Solis were the 8th combination in the jump off and they set the bar early on with their time of 42.40 seconds.

Olivia and Casparall, a 7 year-old grey stallion owned by Russ Underwood, were drawn 22nd to go in the jump off and they produced their double clear in 42.40 seconds to ensure that they were to share the top spot.

Third place was taken by 20 year-old Stephen Crosby from Bradford, West Yorkshire and he was on board 8 year-old grey stallion T.G.F Rubin owned by Trever Farrington. This combination was 14th to go in the jump off and their double clear was achieved in 43.05 seconds.
