The Hand Equestrian Centre Blue Chip Feed Balancer Newcomers Second Round.
Monday 06 June 2011
The latest Blue Chip Feed Balancer Newcomers Second Round took place this weekend on the first of two days of the pony jumping at The Hand Equestrian Centre in Clevedon, North Somerset.
This class had two Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) qualification tickets up for grabs and five Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival tickets. With forty nine starters the competition between the pony riders was fierce.
The three hour journey down from Mansfield in Nottingham proved worthwhile for both fifteen year old Beth Vernon and fourteen year old Darcie Cassel. Beth partnered Allyson Blagg’s 14.2hh seven year old grey mare Zirina IV. Jumping three clears and coming home in a very quick jump off time of 36.04 seconds Beth picked up the first HOYS ticket. Darcie Cassel was hot on the heals of her local rival having also made the journey down from Mansfield. Darcie rode her mothers (Caley) fourteen year old bay gelding Whats it all about IV into second place, for the second HOYS ticket also jumping clear but in a slower time of 39.34 seconds.
Third place went to twelve year old Emily Ward who is currently having a very successful season. Partnering her fathers seven year old grey gelding Prospect Eddie, Emily added the Blue Chip Feed Balancer Newcomers Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival qualification to her Squibb Demolition HOYS qualification that she gained a couple of weeks ago.
Fourth place went to sixteen year old Lauren Crees from Swansea riding her fathers (Gareth) Atlantic Hill. The final Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival ticket went to fifth placed Tabitha Sleap aged sixteen from Hampshire. Tabitha was riding her fathers (Kevin) seven year old grey gelding Ballybaloo.
