Toni Potts Wins Last KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round of 2015

The last of this year’s KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Rounds took place on Saturday at Netley Hall Equestrian Centre in Shrewsbury, Shropshire and it was contested by fifty-eight combinations, all of whom were aiming to grab a last minute qualification spot for next week’s Championship Final at the British Showjumping National Championships in Warwickshire.
Toni Potts from Wrexham, Clwyd dominated this second round and she was among twelve riders who delivered a treble clear to guarantee a spot in the Championship Final.
Toni was on board her own 8 year-old chestnut mare Terrys Clover and she took victory after producing the fastest treble clear of the class. The combination was not only accurate over the fences, but was also incredibly fast, finishing in 32.97 seconds, almost 3 seconds ahead of the combination in second.
Commenting on her win, Toni said “Each round of the class was jumped over very good courses and each round asked for a little bit more from the horses. From my draw in the jump off, I saw that the combinations before me that had jumped clear had taken steady rounds, so I knew that I could push ‘Rhea’ and take the tight turns. It proved to work out for us!”
Second place went to Sarah Trevelyan from Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and she partnered her own 9 year-old bay mare Loose Woman. They produced their treble clear in 35.65 seconds.
Finishing in third was Lynsey Parnham from Rogate, West Sussex with her own 8 year-old bay mare Catokio. They delivered their third and final foot perfect round in 35.88 seconds.
