Tuesday 22 June 2010

Sixteen combinations went through to the third round of the Equissage Discovery Regional final held at Bold Heath Equestrian Centre, Cheshire. Drawn first in the jump off wasPreston based Nigel Coupe on Sue Simmons, 7 year old bay gelding, Goldvers Hill, who set the standard by jumping clear in a time of 34.56 seconds. Drawn in the middle of the jump off on his first of two rides was Cheshire based Tony French on the 6 year old mare Zomone owned by Paul Strafford. He jumped clear in what proved to be an unbeatable time of 34.12 seconds. Tony’s second ride, the 6year old bay gelding Zicher owned by Judith Price was drawn towards the end and although jumping clear he wasn’t quite quick enough to knock Nigel off the second qualifying place.
Both Tony French riding Zomone and Nigel Coupe riding Goldvers Hill qualify to compete at the Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival at Stafford County Showground from 29th August to 4th September 2010.
