Annabel Shields Wins SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at Northcote Stud

Annabel Shields from Crook, Durham posted victory in the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at Northcote Stud on Saturday with the consistent 5 year-old chestnut mare Gerona owned by Robert Shields. The pair won by 0.16 seconds to qualify for the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead, West Sussex.
Fifty-seven initially tackled round one with sixteen gaining access to the jump-off and Annabel found the short route with all the tight turn options in the penultimate draw. The Bacardi VDL daughter Gerona has several titles to her credit already including the Chepstow 1* Five-Year-Old, the Five-Year-Old at the Scope Festival and Arena UK’s Five-Year-Old Grand Prix.
“She’s phenomenal and has won the three five-year-old titles that we aimed for,” said Annabel.
Rebecca Marsh from Rixton, Warrington netted the second qualifying place with Mary Marsh’s 9 year-old bay mare, Predator Ridge, sired by Temple Croesus. Rebecca also generated a quick double clear and returned home in 31.56 seconds.
