National Para Equestrian Championship

The crowd were treated to an impressive display of teamwork by all horse and rider combinations competing in the National Para Equestrian Championship, which was the last class of the day in Championship Arena 2 this afternoon. The class consisted of three titles, which were awarded to the various grades. The grading system ranges from Grade I, II, III, and IV with grades representative of the competitor’s level of disability.

The first Championship was the 90cm Grade III, which was won by Evie Toombes. Evie was riding High Offley Business Centre, known as Daisy at home. She commented “I don’t like going first! But we kept the lead the whole way. She will hack around the block with me when I can barely stand, she’s my heart horse. My plan was to have a bit of fun, and I did!” The combination are aiming for the Arena UK Festival, and enjoying some fun hacking in between.

Laura Goodall is the National Para Club Equestrian Grade II Champion. This year she takes the win on Guusje, known as Susie at home, who she has had for two years. When asked what was next for the pair, Laura explained “I just want to get out on her as much as I can and enjoy her!” The impressive combination won gold for Great Britain in the Para competition in Germany in 2019.
