Tony Pearson and Captain Morgan III win the National 1.25m Restricted Rider Championship Final

The first Championship Final won this morning, Saturday 7 August, at the British Showjumping National & Academy Championships 2021 saw a field of thirty ombinations come forward to contest the National 1.25m Restricted Rider Championship. The win came in the form of Tony Pearson aboard 9-year-old Captain Morgan III. One of only 7 that made it through to the jump off, the combination secured the title with one of two double clears and a quick jump off time of 38.78 seconds.

Tony commented on his round: “I mean there was Emma-Jo Slater who is always fast, and she had two in the jump off – it was going to be a fast class regardless. The plan was clear and quick, and he [Captain Morgan III] took a stride out to the last!”.

Tony shares the ride on Captain Morgan III, Morgan at home, with another rider who will be taking up the reins for the next few weeks whilst Tony competes in London before they come together again for HOYS.

Sarah Winterbottom and Dolly V take second place, with Nicola Hill, riding Kilrodan Sailorette, taking third.
