Spectators were treated to an electrifying jump off as thirty of the initial starting field of forty-eight jumped again. Ten double clears were delivered overall and this left the remaining competitors battling it out for the last two qualification places.
It was 15 year-old Rachel Vicary from Crediton, Devon who eventually secured victory on board her mother Amanda’s 16 year-old bay mare Spirits Way after they posted an early double clear in a fast time. They were drawn sixth to go in the jump off and they set the standard with their second clean round, produced in just 33.24 seconds. This result proved to be unbeatable and it saw them finish over a second ahead of their nearest rivals.
Second place went to Georgina Pudge from Ledbury, Herefordshire after she produced a double clear on board with her own 10 year-old palomino gelding Dizzie Rascal IV. This combination produced their double clear in 34.57 seconds.
Kirsty Fortey from Checkley, Herefordshire secured third place with Abba Dasher Doo, a 13 year-old appaloosa gelding owned by Charlotte Pudge. They produced their second foot perfect round in 38.85 seconds.
