Britain’s Children Finish Third in Hagen Nations Cup After Closely Contested Jump Off

Thursday 18 June 2015

The Children’s Nations Cup in Hagen, Germany took place earlier on today and the British Team finished in third after an exciting three way jump off between Germany, Ireland and Great Britain.

First Round
All four riders were competing under the guidance of Chef d’Equipe Alan Fazakerley and each put in solid performances to return home with first round clears.

Team trailblazer, 13 year-old Bobbie Heath from Cheshire, got the Brits off to a good start with her clear on board her father Graham’s 15 year-old chestnut mare Labuleska and she was matched by 12 year-old Oliver Fletcher from Oxford who was next to go on his father Graham’s 9 year-old bay mare Little Business.

Third to go was 14 year-old Hallie Lunn from Essex with her father Richard’s 8 year-old chestnut mare Brookwood Supersonic and they also achieved a textbook clear. Lottie Tutt, aged 14, from Buckinghamshire was team anchor with Alan Tredwell’s 9 year-old chestnut gelding Babylon and she completed a good round for Great Britain with yet another clear.

Second Round
Bobbie, Oliver and Lottie all emulated their first round performances to secure double clears whilst Hallie collected an unfortunate 4 faults to become the drop score in this round. However, the good results gained from throughout the two seconds meant that Great Britain headed in the jump off with Germany and Ireland.

Jump Off
The jump off proved to be both exciting and nerve racking with Bobbie, Oliver and Hallie all producing further clear rounds. Lottie picked up 4 faults which left her as the drop score, but Britain were once again left on 0 faults.

Germany and Ireland also produced consistent jump off rounds to stay on 0 faults, which meant that the podium places were to be decided by the ever crucial clock. Germany were announced as the winners after they jumped off in a total of 110.12 seconds, whilst Ireland finished second on 116.56 seconds and Great Britain were third on 119.79 seconds.
