British Showjumping National Sport Committee Vacancy

British Showjumping is currently seeking to appoint a member onto the National Sport Committee (NSC) which is responsible for the strategic development of the sport. 

Role Title:                           National Sport Committee Member

Key Tasks:

  • To attend National Sport Committee  (NSC) Meetings as required (circa 6 pa)
  • To respond to NSC email correspondence as required
  •  To assist in the delivery and development of the sport of Showjumping
  •  Consider proposals put forward from the Members Council.
  • Review rules as and when required
  • Review and approve qualifier allocations and tenders as required
  • Review the process for affiliation of shows
  • Provide ongoing analysis of the competition structure in order to ensure it best caters for the needs and requests of the membership as a whole.
  • Ensure appropriate policies are in place throughout the sport including disciplinary procedures, official appointments, dispensation requests
  • Advise and endorse the competition calendar
  • Be able to provide insight and guidance in regard to National and International competition and be able to provide a link between these to ensure consistency
  • To sit on working groups as required focusing on specific areas of the sport
  • Perform additional tasks focussing on specific areas as directed by the Board

Person Specification:

Experience & Knowledge
Essential: 

  • Thorough understanding of the National Competition structure
  • Extensive experience of International competitions, rules and environments
  • Thorough understanding of the coaching and training framework within British Showjumping
  • Thorough understanding of the Equine Talent Pathway within the sport

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the Athlete Talent Pathway within British Showjumping

Other:
Essential

  • Be committed to British Showjumpings aims and ambitions
  • As a British Showjumping representative you will be a team player with excellent communication skills with other committee members and Board Directors
  • Willingness to undertake duties outside of meetings
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection rules and ability to perform duties in absolute adherence to these rules
  • Willingness to undertake training and development as required
  • Regular access to emails

Desirable

  • IT Skills, including use of Microsoft Office Products
  • Demonstrate high moral and ethical values

The role is Voluntary. Expenses directly related to the execution of the role will be paid in accordance with British Showjumping’s current Expenses Policy. (Available on request).
