Norfolk Showjumping Club held a KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round on Sunday 31st May and the class was held during the Houghton International Horse Trials at Houghton Hall in Kings Lynn, Norfolk.
Twenty-seven competitors started out over the course and each rider was hoping to take home a qualification place for the Championship Final which will be held at the British Showjumping National Championships in August.
From the initial starting field, ten combinations produced a double clear to go forward to the final jump off. Six all important treble clears were then delivered.
Victory went to 19 year-old Lorraine Lock from Brentwood, Essex on her own 6 year-old bay mare Evropa. Drawn fifth to go in the jump off, they produced their treble clear in a time of 42.00 seconds. Commenting on her win, Lorriane said “Evropa went really well; she has only been jumping for a couple of months and took the competition in her stride. She allowed me to move up a gear in terms of pace and this paid off, which I am thrilled about.”
Julia Hardy with her own 6 year-old grey mare Jizebelle Van D’Oude Bosh took second place after securing their treble clear in 43.20 seconds.
Third place was taken by 26 year-old James Pratt from Woodbridge, Suffolk and he partnered his own 8 year-old bay gelding Willy Limerick. This combination secured their place in the line-up after producing their third foot perfect round in 45.15 seconds.
Six combinations from this second round now go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
