Nominations Open for the Stallion AI Services Meritoire Award

The prestigious Stallion AI Services Meritoire Award is presented to the person who, in the opinion of the British Horse Foundation Awards Committee has made an outstanding lifetime contribution to the performance sport horse and pony breeding industry.

The definition of Meritoire is commendable and praiseworthy and therefore this award is uniquely placed to honour that special someone whose legacy within British breeding is recognised for their exceptional input, commitment and dedication as have all previous recipients of this prestigious award, who include the Louella Stud for their contribution to sport horse breeding; Johanna Vardon, founder of the National Foaling Bank, for her contribution to the health and wellbeing of orphaned foals; Archie Smith Maxwell, breeder of Jumbo, one of the highest ranking event sires of all time; Professor Graham Suggett in recognition for a lifetime’s contribution to breeding through encouraging British studbooks to work together and his Chairmanship of the former National Equine Database.

In 2015, the Award was made posthumously to Richard Meade OBE, as it was in 2016 when the award was made to Richard Matson, who had very sadly passed away on 11th December 2015.  Richard had been instrumental in driving forward many initiatives in the sport horse-breeding world and was the first member of Supporters of British Breeding, set up by Desi Dillingham who herself has been a recipient of the Meritoire Award, as was an overwhelmed and delighted Lynne Crowden in 2018.  Our most recent recipient, Jennie Loriston-Clarke was visibly moved on receiving her Meritoire Award.

Tullis Matson, Managing Director of Stallion AI Services says, “We are proud to sponsor the Meritoire Award, we pride ourselves on the professional and committed customer service we provide to our clients, which is in keeping with the philosophy of this award.

Stallion AI Services understands that quality and longevity must be a priority when considering how valuable any contribution has been to the horse world which we all value so much”.

Nominations close on 2nd December 2019.

The award will be presented at the British Horse Foundation Awards Dinner, hosted and organised by the British Horse Foundation in London on 11th January 2020.
