Jodie Hall McAteer Takes Top Spot Vejer de la Frontera Grand Prix in this week's International Round Up

British riders continued their excellent form on the international circuit during Week two of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain, with outstanding performances and podium finishes in both Grand Prix and ranking classes.
The highlight of the week came in the CSI3* Grand Prix feature class, where Jodie Hall McAteer produced two immaculate rounds to take victory with the talented 10-year-old stallion Key West, owned by Ruth Dowie.
Against a strong international field of 60 starters, McAteer and Key West produced a flawless performance over Spanish course designer Marcos Nunez’s challenging 1.55m, 13-fence track. The pair delivered a fast, composed jump-off round to stop the clock in 39.05 seconds, securing a decisive victory. Switzerland’s Anthony Bourquard finished second aboard Fontainblau Manciais in 39.23 seconds, with Canada’s Kyle Timm and Glamour du Chanu taking third in 40.95 seconds.
Earlier in the week, Rebecca Marsh added another British podium to the tally, finishing second in Thursday’s CSIO3* 1.40m Two Phases Special Class. Thirty-five competitive combinations came forward with an impressive 19 of those starters producing double-clear performances. However, it was Rebecca Marsh, riding her own eight-year-old mare, Elegance Z, who delivered two fast and accurate phases to stop the clock in 30.24 seconds, just behind Switzerland’s Bryan Balsiger and Checker on 29.68 seconds. Italy’s Giampiero Garofalo and Mont Rose HX completed the top three in 30.36 seconds.
Longines FEI Jumping World Cup - Washington
British riders also delivered impressive performances at the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Washington, highlighted by a podium finish for Ben Maher and a strong top four placing for Jessica Mendoza in the prestigious President’s Cup Grand Prix.
Thirty-one starters came forward for the 1.60cm feature class, hoping to gain points to qualify for the FEI Jumping World Cup Finals, with eight advancing into the jump-off. The class was won by USA’s Laura Kraut riding Tres Bien Z, who produced a flawless double-clear round to finish in 40.83 seconds. Ireland’s Daniel Coyle and Incredible were close behind in 41.14 seconds, taking second place. Great Britain’s Ben Maher secured third aboard Charlotte Rossetter and Pamela Wright’s 15-year-old stallion, Faltic HB, another double clear in 42.25 seconds, the pair once again showed their trademark precision and experience at the highest level.
Fellow Briton Jessica Mendoza also impressed, finishing fourth with her 12-year-old mare In The Air, whom she jointly owns with Pernilla Amman, Georgia Jipp, Kristi Mitchem, and Melissa Skowlund. The pair delivered one of the fastest times in the jump-off—39.19 seconds—but just added four faults to their score.
Earlier in the week, Ben Maher and Faltic HB opened their campaign with another podium finish in the Welcome Stakes, placing third behind American riders McLain Ward and Mimi Gochman. Ward claimed victory with First Lady in 33.15 seconds, ahead of Gochman and Inclen BH on 33.55 seconds, while Maher and Faltic HB delivered a fast, faultless round in 34.66 seconds.
These results mark another strong showing for Great Britain on the North American World Cup circuit, with Maher and Mendoza both demonstrating exceptional form as the indoor season builds momentum.
Autumn Moura Tours, Valencia
British riders made a dominant start to the Autumn Moura Tours in Valencia, Spain, with a series of strong performances across the CSI3* classes during the opening week.
The highlight came in Sunday’s CSI3* Big Tour Grand Prix, where Lily Attwood and her 11-year-old gelding Johnnie Walker, owned by Emily Freeman Attwood, produced an impressive performance to finish third. Against a competitive field of 40 starters, only three combinations made it into the jump-off. Attwood and Johnnie Walker posted a fast time of 44.25 seconds, incurring just four faults to secure their podium spot. The win went to Luxemburg’s Victor Bettendorf with Encore Toi du Linon in 45.84 seconds, whilst French rider, Max Thirouin took home second with Utopie Villelongue.
Earlier in the week, Attwood and Johnnie Walker also took third place in the CSI3* 1.45m Big Tour Speed Class, stopping the clock in 61.15 seconds, with victory going to France’s Julien Anquetin, riding Fiona de Ibis.
British riders dominated the Thursday classes, led by Hannah Tiley, who won the CSI3* 1.30m Small Tour riding Capistelle JX in a double-clear time of 55.99 seconds. Summer Tanner added to the British success by taking third with Billy Colman in 57.34 seconds.
It was also a one-two finish for Great Britain in Thursday’s CSI3* 1.40m Medium Tour Two Phases Special, where Laura Renwick claimed victory aboard Cottee in 36.80 seconds, followed closely by Scarlet Lilley and Muna V/D Bisschop in 37.95 seconds.
Renwick continued her fine form later in the week, securing another win in Saturday’s CSI3* 1.40m Medium Tour Speed Class, again with Cottee, delivering a clear round in 35.60 seconds.
Angela Thompson and Ca Va Fazallco secured second place in Friday’s CSI3* 1.40m Medium Tour Speed Class, finishing in 58.06 seconds, just behind Argentina’s Franco Martinez.
Tom Harrison also claimed victory for Great Britain in Saturday’s CSI3* 1.35m Medium Tour Speed Class, riding Oldtown Emerald Isle to a quick clear in 59.92 seconds.
The final day of competition brought more British success in the CSI3* 1.35m Small Tour Pro, where Fraser Reed and Loughan Special took the win in 51.99 seconds, with Hannah Tiley once again on the podium, finishing second aboard Capistelle JX in 53.27 seconds.
