Robert Bevis & Courtney 6 pick-up maximum points in the Royal Berkshire International Stairway

Yesterday, saw the 2016 International Stairway Series get underway at the Royal Berkshire Show, hosted at the Newbury Showground, in Thatcham, Berkshire and it was Robert Bevis from Wrexham, Clywd who picked up the maximum points on offer. 

With five combinations putting in a first round clear over the Paul Thompson built course, the win was anyone’s to take, however Robert riding his own 14 year-old grey gelding Courtney 6 were on form and ended up being the only combination to produce a double clear, ensuring that the win was theirs.

Robert went onto have a successful class as he went onto take second place aswell with Kate Mustill’s 10 year-old grey mare Pebbles IV after picking up four faults over the jump off course in a time of 59.27 seconds.

Third place went to Phillip Miller from Harpenden, Hertfordshire after he also picked up four faults in the jump off on board Nigel Eccles and Di & Pennie Cornish’s 15 year-old grey gelding Caritiar Z. This combination crossed the finish line in 62.12 seconds.

Helen Tredwell  from Finmere, Buckinghamshire with her own 10 year-old grey mare Larksong picked up four faults in a time of 63.57 seconds to finish in fourth place getting their 2016 campaign off to a great start.

The fifth and final rider in the jump off was Northampton’s Tim Stockdale partnering his wife Laura’s 11 year-old chestnut gelding Erasmus vd Heffinck. This combination also picked up four faults over the jump off course in a time of 67.00 seconds.
