Kate Anderson and Goodwin Junior Soar in STX-UK Pony Foxhunter Second Round at Bogenraith Equestrian

The STX-UK Pony Foxhunter Second Round at Bogenraith Equestrian proved to be a true test of skill at the weekend, with John Bedford's demanding course challenging the 20 rider combinations who came forward in search of qualification for the Championship Final.
Despite plenty of determined efforts, the course proved influential, with just one combination producing two faultless rounds to secure victory.
It was Kate Anderson who rose to the occasion aboard Julie Anderson's Goodwin Junior, delivering the only double clear of the competition to take an emphatic win and book their place at the STX-UK Pony Foxhunter Championship Final.
The pair's composed and consistent performance throughout both rounds ensured they stood alone at the top of the leaderboard, rewarding a polished display with a well-deserved victory.
“We have had Junior for a year and a half now, when we first got him, he was really sharp and cold backed. I lost my confidence at the start and didn’t want to ride him but Carla Bowlam, who I train with, has really helped us to get to where we are now. Now I feel so confident now with him, he’s wary for a start and on the ground but once he has relaxed, he’s like a donkey to ride!
The course on the day really suited us, it wasn’t an easy track, quite technical and the time was tight as well, but Junior has such a big stride he covers the ground well. Other riders were rushing trying to beat the clock, but I can just open Junior up when I land after a fence so we can easily be quick without rushing. It worked out really well for us.
We are at Great Yorkshire this week jumping the 148cm class, a 1.25m Grand Prix and then the Royal International at Hickstead where we have qualified for the JC final, then we will look forward to the National Championship and HOYS. “ Kate told us.
