Claire Gibson Rides Away Victorious in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Northallerton Equestrian Centre

The opening KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Northallerton Equestrian Centre in North Yorkshire on Saturday got this summer’s qualification campaign off to a great start as forty-three competitors battled it out for a place in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.

The Championship Final will be held during the British Showjumping National Championships and Saturday’s second round proved to be action packed as the production of a treble clear was in every competitor’s sight.

With eight combinations achieving an impressive and sought after treble clear, it was left up to the clock to decide the leaderboard and it was Claire Gibson from Burnopfield, Newcastle on Tyne who took victory on board her own Rebelsa R, a 6 year-old dark bay mare. Claire and Rebelsa R produced a spectacularly accurate clear round in an unbeatable time of 38.20 seconds to take first place in style.

Polly Douglas from Barnard Castle, County Durham went home with second place and rode her own Vincelot, a 5 year old bay gelding. This combination delivered a solid treble clear in a time of 39.88 seconds.

Samantha Knott, from Darlington, County Durham took third on her own 14 year-old bay mare Pepsi Z. They gained their treble clear in 42.05 seconds.

With a further five riders also achieving a treble clear, eight combinations will now go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
